Imaginarium Discovery Center at Anchorage Museum, Alaska

Wiener Stadthalle, Vienna, Austria
Advised concerning the design of an “Edutainment Center” for the Wiener Stadthalle, Vienna, Austria.  Analyzed the architectural plan, created a comparative analysis, thematic plan, exhibition budget and staffing plan.  Projected an annual operating budget.  Provided a prospective schedule and alternative models for the project.  Created a 3D computerized model of the space and produced a report with our findings.

The Northern California Natural History Museum, Chico, California
AAI produced a short, detailed document describing attendance patterns and operating models for The Northern California Natural History Museum.   We also provide a counsel concerning the start up of the institution as well as several alternative models.  The report was funded by The California State University at Chico.

Science Alive, Christchurch, New Zealand
AAI served as a catalyst and otherwise greatly aided Science Alive in opening its doors for the first time.   Joe Ansel guided staff in selecting and designing interactive exhibits, created and outfitted an exhibition production shop and actually built the Science Alive’s first exhibit.  Science Alive had no exhibits when Joe arrived and in less that 6 months later opened with over 40 exhibits.

Advised on, and created a document concerning, exhibition costs.

The Roberson Museum and Science Center, Binghamton, New York
Joe Ansel served as a consultant to the Roberson Center for the Arts and Sciences, Binghamton, New York, in creating a highly successful permanent science exhibition.

Atelier Markgraph, Frankfurt, Germany
Consulted concerning the design of a traveling show which was also shown at the Hanover 2000 world exhibition.

Bechtel International, Madrid, Spain
Joe Ansel was the Exploratorium ’s principal consultant in designing a 200,000 square foot children’s museum, Ciudad de los Niños, in Madrid, Spain.  He managed the job and wrote the majority of the 200 page museum master planning report produced for the project.

Gyroscope, Oakland, California
As a subcontractor to Gyroscope, provided exhibit research, interactive exhibit development, design and engineering for the Energy Technology Educational Center--a project of The California Energy Commission.

Fundacíon YPF S. A. Buenos Aires, Argentina (Corporate Foundation)
AAI advised in the creation of Puerto Curioso--a new science center located downtown on the waterfront.   AAI wrote an extensive report and created a sophisticated financial model to project operating costs and revenues.

The California Energy Commission, Sacramento, California, (State Governmental Agency)
AAI assisted Gyroscope, Inc. by providing exhibit research, development, design and engineering for the Energy Technology Educational Center--a project of The California Energy Commission.

The Arriyadh Development Authority, Arriyadh, Saudi Arabia (Municipality)
Provided consulting and design services to the government of Saudi Arabia in the creation of  The Science Oasis a 240,000 square foot national science center.  Advised on exhibits and architecture.  Produced two reports on: a thematic structure for exhibits and architectural guidelines for exhibition spaces.

Served as a long term consultant at Interval in the design and fabrication of proprietary interactive products and artworks.   Adapted artworks to public display at trade shows and often actually installed the artworks.
