Imaginarium Discovery Center at Anchorage Museum

The exhibits in the Imaginarium Discovery Center are divided into two major thematic areas: Science and Young Learners. The Science area is organized into three galleries containing a broad range of exhibits designed to appeal to a variety of learning styles and interests. These exhibits entertain and challenge visitors to learn new concepts and to make memorable connections between these concepts and their own lives and experiences.

The Science area galleries within the Imaginarium exhibition include:
•The BP Kinetic gallery
Moving & Motion demonstrates the essentials of mechanics & movement.
Flight & Remote Sensing shows these two technologies critical to Alaskan life and commerce.
Elements & Waves explains visible & invisible aspects of wave functions.

•The Planetarium Hall
Earth & Auroras allows visitors to explore both auroras and Alaska’s unique location, geological history and climate.

Playing at the Stream Table Exhibit in Earth & Life Space

• The Earth & Life Space
Land Shaping helps visitors understand the dynamic forces, like earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic activity, that continue to shape Alaska’s geology.
Animals in Motion enables visitors to learn how Alaskan animals—and the visitors themselves—walk, leap and balance.
Creatures Near & Far provides hands-on opportunities for visitors to interact with animals from both Alaska and elsewhere.

The Young Learners area is organized into two spaces:
Bubbles Space contains both entertaining bubble-creating exhibits and an interactive computer-aided video installation.
TOTE KidSpace is designed to stimulate the imagination and curiosity of our youngest visitors, along with their parents or caregivers.
