As a small organization, augmented by a number of well-known and deeply
experienced associates, AAI offers a flexible and quick team specializing in interactive exhibitions. We have visualization capabilities as well as presentation and planning tools to execute projects from concept through implementation, final installation and opening day.
AAI team members have invented, built, tested, repaired and refined hundred of different hands-on exhibits—exhibits that have been used by millions of visitors over the years. We grasp the “nuts and bolts” of interactive exhibits.
AAI intimately understands the operational aspects of interactive exhibitions and can effectively communicate these to the architects and engineers engaged in designing the building.
We have successfully managed multi-million dollar exhibitions from start to finish – with an unbroken record of on time and below budget completions.
Additionally, we have real experience in the management and operation of science centers. Few exhibition design firms have core staff with high-level museum management experience.
There are many ways to involve Ansel Associates in your project, several of which are shown on the following organizational charts:
The first chart, titled “Architectural Advice, Content Development and Exhibition Design, Project Management for Exhibition through Installation” outlines the scope of work that Ansel Associates can undertake when brought into a project early. As you can tell from reviewing the chart, in this scenario, we act in three primary capacities: as Advisors, as Planners and Designers and as Project Managers. We provide on-going advice on the design of the building with respect to the necessary functions and utility that it must provide; we develop the exhibits and design the exhibition from concept through implementation and installation; we manage the design and fabrication budgets and schedule for the duration of the project, from inception through close out of the project, post opening.
The second chart, "Exhibition Design and Management" is an example of our role when the building design is complete, or there is less need for advice on building function and operations. In this case, communications with the architects and building engineers are limited to the specific needs and requirements of the exhibition being developed and the bulk of our work is devoted to planning and implementing the exhibitions.
A third way that we might participate in a project is strictly as Project Managers: "Project Management for Exhibition Design, Fabrication and Installation". In this role we manage and coordinate the exhibition design and planning process and are responsible for budget, contracting and schedule.
In all of this, no matter our specific role, AAI's commitment is to hold to the client's overall vision and to produce exhibition content, exhibits and related facilities that further the client's goals and dreams for the institution.
